The Bandage of Hospitality

Kimberism: Who practices hospitality entertains God Himself. Proverb After seeing the Movie, The Help I encountered a heavenly conversation with The Upstairs Team where my attention was drawn to the contrast of the characters Hilly and Cecile. In the movie Hilly is a calculating, agenda driven woman, while Cecile possesses a childlike innocence and purity of heart. While Hilly strives to accomplish her self-serving agenda, the pure-hearted Cecile serves up generous portions of grace and hospitality despite her ample servings of disappointment and pain. This conversation continued to expand within my life as I remembered being asked what I wanted several months before when I realigned my focus. Suddenly I saw a vivid picture of my house over run with people hanging out, an abundance of great food and the sense of extended family. Although I don’t consider myself a domestic diva, family is one of my top values, so expanding the vision seems natural. I was then reminded that the word “hospital” comes from the Latin word “hospes” which refers to either a visitor or one who receives the visitor.  The Hotel-Dieu was a French name often used for hospital in the Middle Ages, meaning the hotel of God. What one of us hasn’t felt like an outsider at one time or another and couldn’t use the bandage of hospitality as in the hotel of God? Most people can pick up the scent of calculated maneuvering that injures and separates in a flash and quickly flee from it. However, pull out a chair and offer a coke-cola like Cecile and you’d be amazed at the affect a little hospitality can have on people! © Copyright 2011 Moxie Me Institute, BE U LLC. Jump Into Ransacking Love

Kimberism: Fear masquerades as levelheadedness.

Have you ever considered that exaggeration doesn’t exist in heaven’s economy? Sloppy exaggeration is a hallmark of heaven’s standard—abundant, audacious, overload! We can never fathom or think big enough for what God has in mind. Just when I think I’ve gotten a bigger vision, it suddenly appears microscopic! When I settle for a measly portion, I forfeit what is truly available. There is no dribble, no sprinkling, no drop in the bucket with God—we are talking about high tide, overflowing, all consuming love that ransacks emptiness and fills to over flowing. Aren’t you tired of settling for getting by, settling for poverty of spirit and mind, poverty of belief, poverty of hope, poverty of comprehension—the miraculous exchanged for levelheadedness? What has levelheadedness ever transformed? Witness a birth of a child (I have witnessed several other than my own four births) and you can’t help but be awe struck. There is nothing neat, tidy, levelheaded, or in small measure about a brand new life bursting forth! Are we so lulled to sleep and preoccupied with our own agendas and grabs at success that we miss the daily miraculous? Nothing about the miracle of life should be run of the mill, or commonplace. We need to wake up and marvel at the divine possibilities that love conceives. Jump into the generosity of the Ultimate Visionary, the Ransacker of small mindedness, the heart stopping displays of Extravagant Love and never stop being surprised! © Copyright 2011 Moxie Me Institute, BE U LLC. What Are You Growing In Your Life?

Kimberism: A tree is known by its fruit; a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love. Saint Basil Have you ever gone after something you thought you wanted only to discover in the end that you invested yourself in something that didn’t line up with your inner values? I sure have, more times than I would like to admit! Have you ever noticed that everything produces after its own kind? Every seed produces its own kind. An orange seed doesn’t produce apples. It produces after its own kind and so do we. The seed is the most inner part and within every person’s heart there is a seed that manifests after its own kind. If you want to know what kind of seed you are nurturing, look at the fruit in your life. Do you sadly recognize seeds maturing with qualities that do not align with your values? Here are clues that reveal you may be nurturing an illegitimate harvest:
  1. You experience a lack of peace
  2. You lack the ability to live in the present moment
  3. You find yourself striving to make things happen
  4. Rather than letting life emerge through you, you are contriving to control life
  5. You are driven by selfish-ambition
  6. All that you are creating would be meaningless if you found yourself in a life or death situation
  7. You can’t remember the last time you felt giddy
  8. You forgot how to receive
  9. You are propelled by self-effort rather than joy
  10. 10. You forgot love
If you’ve ever planted a garden and watched it grow strong and healthy you know that it began with good seed, fertile soil and the right nurture and care. Conversely if a garden has pour seed, soil or little care, you can be certain that even if what’s sown in it looks strong and healthy initially, it will eventually wither when exposed to the heat. Look around in the world and you will quickly discern the heat of many man-made and natural circumstances. Although it may be disappointing to have invested time and energy in a failed crop, it may actually be a blessing if you determine what your growing is contrary to your values. Is what you are sowing in your life truly valuable? If not realign your priorities and activities to produce a harvest that is truly valuable. © Copyright 2011 Moxie Me Institute, BE U LLC. Laughter Keeps Me Sane

Kimberism: A sense of humor… is needed armor. Joy in one’s heart and some laughter on one’s lips is a sign that the person down deep has a pretty good grasp of life. Hugh Sidey Comically, today I realized that one of my giveaway reports offered to new subscribers on my website had a major typo. This portion of the Moxie Do’s and Don’ts for Success instructed readers to embrace the color of life through new environments outside ones regular paradigm. It wen’t on to suggest other ideas for growth and expansion such as, “Take your brain out for a ride (here comes the typo) a joint in the park, or a swim in the sea. Find new ways of expanding your world.”  The sentence should have read, “a jaunt in the park,” not a joint!!!! Boy, did this make me laugh! It certainly was not the message I was trying to convey! What opportunities can you find to laugh at your own circumstances, blunders and mishaps? Instead of taking yourself too seriously try a good bout of laughter. © Copyright 2011 Moxie Me Institute, BE U LLC. All Rights Reserved WANT TO USE THIS ARTICLE IN YOUR E-ZINE OR WEB SITE? Divine Appointments

Kimberism: Earth crammed with heaven and every common bush a fire with God. But only he who sees takes off his shoes-the rest sit around it plucking blackberries. Elizabeth Barrett Browning I knew had a Divine appointment this week while my entire family was away. As you can imagine it’s quite infrequent that a brood this size would be away all at once! Although I could have missed it and busied myself with numerous activities and invitations, as I was tempted to do, I got the message loud and clear that this time had been “setup”. Come to think of it it’s the only time in all my years as a mom and wife that I have ever experienced this. Although I knew I needed to place presidence on this arrangement, unfortunately it hurt some people’s feelings when I declined invitations Did the heavens part and the thunder clap the moment my last child left the property? No not exactly, but I knew that if this time was arranged, it wasn’t so I would be stood up, or blown off.  I became mindful of the time my son Josh banished himself in his room until he had an encounter with heaven, and boy did he! After rounding the bend at 7:00 am on my morning walk I saw a large crowd lined up in front of a studio in hopes of getting their prized seat for a show and then not too much further down the street I noticed an old poster in a window of an antique store depicting the first couple, Adam and Eve with the word “lovers.”  That image caused me to reflect on the notion that the world began with a love relationship, first God with man and then the first created couple. Yet in our busy lives how little attention we give to this heavenly relationship. Would we wait all night in line for an appointment with heaven? If you’re like me you like your sleep way too much! If the world began with this focus it’s hard to imagine that there would ever be an intended departure from it. Yet how much time and consideration do we give to this Supreme relationship and believe me I’m not talking about rote church attendance, rituals, or formula? Is a heavenly relationship an after thought for you? Why not get “setup” for your heavenly encounter. Knock on heaven’s door until you get an answer! © Copyright 2011 Moxie Me Institute, BE U LLC.
