Are You Wired?

Kimberism: “Know what drives your beat, so you can stay in sync.” Kimber
Can I tell it to you straight? Sometimes I am a reactor! When I am taken by surprise by pesky details rather than calmly and rationally breaking down each component of a situation, I generally react and immediately want to move toward action. Unlike my husband who processes the world through a calm reflective perspective, I process and move quickly! Just take an evening stroll with me and I am usually half way down the block, while the rest of the pack is paces behind. I can’t help it I am wired to take quick action. It pains me to doddle! That is because my top strength is being an activator.

Nick Names Don’t Always Tell the Truth

Kimberism: “No one can pass through life, any more than he can pass through a bit of country, without leaving tracks behind, and those tracks may often be helpful to those coming after him in finding their way.” ~Sir Robert Baden-Powell I’ve had several nicknames over the years. Some funny, some affirming, some tongue in check and some mockingly rude. It might be hard to determine the positive from the negative, so let me spell it out. It all began with the creative name my mom bestowed on me, not Kimberly, not Kim, but Kimber. Then the questions began, “Like Kimba the White Lion?” to which I thought, “No, Kimber like me!”

Strategizing Life to Enjoy the Sweet Stuff

Kimberism: “Nothing happens until something moves.” Robert Ringer Now that I live in Southern California I try to incorporate the beauty of the beach and local vegetation into my life as much as possible. Consistent with my California life style, part of my strategic planning for 2011 includes a bi-weekly writing day at one of my favorite beach spots, The Casa Del Mar Hotel. The lobby boasts of ample, over-stuffed, cushy, chairs, and a beautiful area overlooking the beach. Although I have been in Cali for seven months dreaming of the perfect beach spot where I could write and work, I kept pushing the notion away. Why? It took effort to nail down my haven. Although I’ve had something readily accessible I failed to make it a priority.

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

Kimberism: “My favorite way to walk through life is clothed in a sundress, bare feet, and a smile.” Kimber Britner Oprah has her favorite things, and here in LA, besides the palm trees, beach, my family and friends, one of my favorite things are the “fruit men.” What are the “fruit men”? These are the fabulous vendors stationed randomly on street corners throughout the city selling freshly cut, while-you-wait, gallon size zip lock bags loaded with pineapple, mango, watermelon, jicama, and coconut. Then to make it really zing that add a sprinkle of salt, hot chili spice and lime. This is my favorite $5 treat.

Possibilities In the Air

Kimberism:You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.” - A.A. Milne (Christopher Robin to Pooh) Can you smell the possibilities in the air? I woke up the other morning with an overwhelming flood of joy and the sense of possibility! You may be wondering what was different about that morning from any other morning. To tell you the truth there was nothing outwardly different, however my perception shifted and the world seemed full of possibility. The truth is that the world is full of possibility every single moment. Not a day goes by while we are a live that we fail to wake up and breathe air into our lungs. And that’s just the start of the snowball affect of possibility!
